Yoga Nidra or "psychic sleep" is being used in hospitals and healing centers worldwide to engage the incredible healing power of the subconscious mind. Using guided visualization in a completely supported savasana, Yoga Nidra accesses the hypnogogic state, a psychology term for the state between sleep and wakefulness. It is a practice of the 5th limb of the Yoga Sutras, pratyahara, where the awareness of the yogi is deeply internalized. Yoga Nidra trains and relaxes the mind, minimizes tensions, clears the subconscious, enhances memory, awakens creativity, and counteracts stress and psychological disorders of the mind.
Angelle St.Pierre holds dual teaching certifications in both Prana Flow and Kundalini Yoga. She has also been helping people relax and heal as a massage therapist since 2003. Over the years she has come to believe that restorative yoga practices are some of the most helpful antidotes to the stress and busyness of modern life. Her deep love of assisting others in finding comfort in their bodies, and peace in their minds, inspired her to begin teaching yoga in 2012, though the practice has been with her since her first class in 1997.
