Bhakti yoga is also known as the yoga of devotion. In this fun and experiencial workshop participants will be introduced to Bhakti yoga through mantra practice, sacred sounds and Sanskrit chanting. We will explore different aspects of sound practice including Bija mantras, Japa, call and response chanting (Kirtan) and together create a longer mantra meditation.
Through stories and reflections we will open ourselves to the states of emotion that we can access through Bhakti yoga, specifically by invoking the names of the divine archetypes and experience the heightened sensitivity and the feelings that follow chanting together.
Vocal opening exercises will be introduced and each participant will be encouraged to explore making sound to their comfort level in a safe container.Musicians and non-musicians alike are welcome as we will explore and experience how the practice is created in the moment through the the held intentions of the group and the energy we all bring. No prior singing or musical experience necessary.
