Touching Emptiness: The Heart of Buddhist Meditation
Buddhist meditation begins with being present, but then also teaches us how to channel that presence towards deeper wisdom, inner freedom and a heightened capacity to stay responsive instead of reactive. At the heart of this channeling is the liberating insight into emptiness. This workshop will use timeless guided meditations and discussion to guide you into an actual experience of emptiness - one that will stick with you, even when you inevitably have a flurry of thoughts, emotions and bodily sensations.
Buddhist Social Meditation
Rather than something we do by ourselves with our eyes closed, Buddhist meditation is a practice to bring into every moment of our lives. This experiential workshop will introduce some of the basic ways we can apply meditation to our relationships. Through various exercises, we will explore how to be fully present with ourselves, while also being fully present with another.
Guided Vipassana Meditation
Through a Vipassana-style body scan, we will explore the liberating power of bringing our awareness out of thinking and into our raw sensations & feelings. Particular emphasis will be given to our relationship with what is, and how even when the body (or mind) doesn't feel good, we can still experience a palpable sense of peace and connection. The actual meditation will last about 40 minutes with extra time for discussion.
